Math with Jodi Bailey - Long Distance Musher
Jodi blogs @ http://www.dewclawkennel.com/blog/ about her preparations for long distance races. One of my favorite is all about math. Click here for Jodi's post. My class did a ton of math and even a service project based on this post. I jumpstarted my thinking with lessons by Martha Dobson, past Iditarod Teacher on the Trail and Iditarod Committee Educational Reporter. Math Giving it Meaning 4-6 Math- Giving it Meaning K-3 |
Math and More with Nature's Kennel
Nature's Kennel, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is one of the few lower 48 Iditarod Racing Kennels. Ed and Tasha Stielstra, run a 100 plus dog kennel giving sled dog tours and training teams for the Iditarod. A few years ago, Chad, Ed's brother produced a educational and entertaining video series, Rhu and Friends. One of the kids favorites and a great lead into math activities is Feeding Frenzy.
